Cooking for College Students
Most college students do not know about cooking. We're about to change that.
Please believe me when I say that you definitely don't want to be eating macaroni & cheese and Raman noodles every night. This is really hard on your body. Besides, contrary to popular belief, cooking doesn't have to be complicated. All you have to have are the right recipes and an imaginative heart.
There are recipe books that were put together especially for college students. Think about purchasing Starving Student's Cookbook, Cooking Outside the Pizza Box, Where's Mom Now That I Need Her?, or some other college cook book. You'll be glad you did.
Some people just can't stand following a recipe. No worries! When it's dinner time simply snatch a few items that go well together and throw them in a pot or frying pan. Chicken, rice and carrots taste good. Or ranch style beans, corn, hominy, garbonzo beans, (leave the juices for a stew) ground beef, tomatoes, and diced green chili. Salt and pepper to taste and sprinkle some cheddar cheese on top.
Here are other simple meals: spaghetti with sauce, fettuccini Alfredo, Caesar salad, Stone soup (put anything you want in it), hotdogs, macaroni tuna salad, three bean salad, and anything in a crockpot.
Also, never EVER skip breakfast! Cereal, fruit, yogurt, and cream of wheat make quick and simple breakfasts. You can also make pancakes, muffins and biscuits. If you can't make them from scratch, use a mix! Skipping breakfast is hard on your metabolism. Avoid it at all costs. If you are on the run take a granola bar or an apple with you, but get anything in your stomach.
